People’s Champs wash the hottest dance rhythms from West Africa and South America in a deluge of retro-futurist synth tones and craft them into experimental indie songs with Stevie Wonder-esque lyrics.

With their "crazy ass genre mash ups" (Blakbook), People's Champs' truly original sound is equal parts Sharon Jones, tUnE-yArDs, Os Mutantes, Betty Davis, William Onyeabor, Tears for Fears, and Prince. Critics are calling People’s Champs a “New York supergroup!” (Lucid Culture) and "Well on their way to becoming NYC's de facto Funk and Afrobeat experience" (Deli Magazine).

After rocking big events at The Guggenheim Museum and The MoMA, countless NYC underground rooftop and warehouse parties, and a multiple-year monthly residency at Brooklyn creative music hotspot Barbès, People's Champs are now touring the USA and beyond in support of their upcoming full-length record.

An All-Star collective featuring highly fashionable Brooklyn-born vocalist Cole Williams (Pimps of Joytime), members of People's Champs perform internationally with artists including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Delicate Steve, Tortured Soul, Cuddle Magic, Railbird, John Brown's Body, Slavic Soul Party!, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and many others. Among many high-profile collaborations, its horn section, under the name The Superpower Horns, is the recording studio horn section of Beyoncé Knowles. They wrote and arranged the horn lines on Beyoncé's 2013 surprise album 'Beyoncé' as well as her 2011 effort '4'. The song "Love on Top", featuring The Superpower Horns, from '4' won a GRAMMY Award. When asked about the horn section, Beyoncé recently gushed, “those guys are genius!”
